Marantz
Receivers for Your Home Cinema

Few names in the audio world carry as much weight as Marantz. What began in 1953 as the passion project of one man at his kitchen table in New York has grown into one of the most respected brands in high-fidelity audio and home cinema. Today, the Marantz Cinema Series offers a complete range of AV receivers and reference separates that push the boundaries of what is possible in home cinemas.

At Integration At Home, we install and configure Marantz receivers as the beating heart of complete home cinema systems, seamlessly integrated with Control4 automation, Focal and Bowers & Wilkins speakers, JVC and Barco projectors and your complete smart home.

From Kitchen Table to Shirakawa: More than 70 Years of Heritage

The story begins with Saul Bernard Marantz (1911–1997), a music lover and graphic designer from Brooklyn. Dissatisfied with the audio equipment available, he built a revolutionary preamplifier in his basement: the Audio Consolette. The first hundred units sold out quickly, and in 1953 Saul founded the Marantz Company in Woodside, Queens.

What followed was a series of iconic components. The Model 7 preamplifier (1958) and Model 9 power amplifier (1960) are still considered milestones — the Model 9 was even adapted by NASA for the Apollo space programme. The legendary engineer Sidney Smith became the driving force behind fourteen years of groundbreaking designs.

After acquisitions by Superscope and Philips, the brand refocused on the higher segment from the nineties onwards. In 2001, Marantz Japan acquired the brand, followed by the merger with Denon to form D&M Holdings. Since 2002, the Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan has been the production heart, where approximately two hundred people hand-assemble and tune every top product.

The Marantz Sound Philosophy: HDAM and the Sound Master

HDAM Technology

HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) is Marantz’s patented discrete amplifier technology. Unlike standard op-amp ICs, HDAM uses discrete components individually selected for their sonic qualities. The result is a faster slew rate, a lower noise floor and greater dynamics — directly audible in the openness and liveliness of the sound.

Sound Master

Every Cinema Series product is personally tuned by Sound Master Yoshinori Ogata. This master engineer selects and tests individual components for their tonal characteristics and tunes the final product to the distinctive Marantz sound. An artisanal process that has more in common with building a musical instrument than with mass production.

Current Feedback & Construction

Current Feedback topology in the amplifier stages results in wider bandwidth and more stable signal behaviour. In the Cinema 30, Cinema 40 and AV 10, combined with copper chassis plates for grounding, triple-layer aluminium enclosures for vibration isolation and toroidal power transformers for a pure power supply.

Cinema Series: The Complete Range

The Cinema Series is not a facelift of the previous SR range, but a thorough reset in design, user experience and sonic ambition. Curved aluminium front panels, symmetrical layout, subtle side lighting and the iconic porthole display.

AV 10 & AMP 10: Reference Separates

AV 10 – 15.4-Channel Processor

Balanced (XLR) and single-ended (RCA) preamp outputs for all channels. Decodes every immersive format: Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced, 360 Reality Audio and MPEG-H Audio. Four independent subwoofer outputs with individual delay, level trim and EQ. Seven 8K HDMI 2.1 inputs, three outputs. Audyssey MultEQ-X and Dirac Live (upgrade). Triple-layer aluminium chassis with copper grounding plate. Signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB.

AMP 10 – 16-Channel Power Amplifier

200 watts per channel at 8 ohm, bridged to 400 watts. Class D amplifier modules based on IceEdge technology with more than 90% efficiency. Less heat generation, consistent power even when all sixteen channels are driven simultaneously. Discrete HDAM modules in the preamplifier circuit preserve the Marantz sound. Bi-amping and bridging for maximum flexibility. Remote monitoring of status and operating temperature.

Together, the AV 10 and AMP 10 drive configurations from 5.1 to 9.4.6 — the absolute pinnacle for home cinema.

Control4 Integration by Integration At Home

Marantz offers extensive integration support: more than 160 certified Control4 drivers via IP communication. Bidirectional control: on/off, volume, input selection, listening mode and real-time status feedback.

For music lovers, we programme a “Music” scene that puts the Marantz into Pure Direct stereo mode for the purest two-channel experience.

The Movie Night Scene

You activate “Movie Night” via your Control4 touchscreen, Basalte Sentido or Lithoss switch. The Marantz Cinema 30 automatically switches on, selects the correct HDMI input, activates Dolby Atmos and sets the volume to film level. Simultaneously, the JVC projector starts, the Lumene screen descends, the Integratech LED strips dim to cinema ambiance, the Delta Light spots switch off, the Gira curtains close and the climate control switches to whisper mode.

When the film ends, the process reverses: the Marantz switches to standby, the projector turns off, the screen rolls up, the lighting returns to evening mode. No four remote controls, no manual steps — one press, and everything is perfect.

Frequently Asked Questions about Marantz Receivers

The Cinema 30 offers 11.4 channels of built-in amplification (versus 9 for the Cinema 40) and can process up to 13.4 channels (versus 11.4). The Cinema 30 has a more powerful power supply of 140 watts per channel and better internal shielding. Both are built at the Shirakawa factory in Japan and are Reference products with the tuning of Sound Master Ogata. The Cinema 30 is the choice for larger speaker systems and installations requiring maximum channel density.

Yes. More than 160 certified Control4 drivers are available for Marantz receivers, all via IP communication over the network. Integration At Home configures the bidirectional control so your Control4 system fully controls the receiver — including on/off, volume, input selection and listening mode — as part of automated scenes.

Dirac Live offers finer-grained correction of both the frequency and impulse response of your speakers in the room. Where Audyssey primarily focuses on frequency correction, Dirac Live also optimises the time-domain response, resulting in tighter bass reproduction, better stereo imaging and a more coherent spatial sound. Dirac Live is available as an upgrade for the Cinema 50, 40, 30 and AV 10.

Absolutely — this is precisely where Marantz distinguishes itself. The HDAM technology and the tuning of the Sound Master ensure that Marantz receivers excel at both film and music. The Pure Direct mode disables all video processing for the purest possible two-channel music reproduction, while the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding provides an immersive film experience.

For the Focal Aria series, the Cinema 60 (100 W) or Cinema 50 (110 W) is an excellent match. For the Focal Sopra or Utopia series, we recommend the Cinema 40 (125 W) or Cinema 30 (140 W). For an uncompromising reference system, the AV 10 with AMP 10 (200 W per channel) is the ideal driver.
