Sonos
Wireless Sound in Every Room of Your Home

A world without speaker cables, without complicated AV receivers, without separate systems per room — that was the dream four entrepreneurs translated into technology that did not yet exist in 2002. Today, Sonos is synonymous with multiroom audio: one ecosystem that seamlessly sends music, film and podcasts throughout your entire home.

At Integration At Home we integrate Sonos speakers and the Sonos Amp into Control4 smart home systems, so that your music becomes part of your lighting scenes, wake-up routines and movie nights.

From a Garage in Santa Barbara to a Global Brand

In 2002, John MacFarlane, Tom Cullen, Trung Mai and Craig Shelburne founded a startup in Santa Barbara. The four had built Software.com together. They found the problem in their own homes: a spaghetti of speaker cables, expensive custom wiring, and a digital music world that barely existed. Spotify, iTunes and Pandora did not yet exist.

Nick Millington developed a mesh network technology with microsecond-accurate synchronisation. The crucial innovation: delegation — each music packet receives a timestamp so that speakers in different rooms play in perfect sync. In January 2005, the ZonePlayer ZP100 came to market. In 2008, the free Controller App for iPhone. In 2009, the PLAY:5 that synchronised up to 32 speakers.

In 2018, listing on NASDAQ. Revenue of $1.52 billion in 2024. In January 2025, Tom Conrad as new CEO. European headquarters in Hilversum, the Netherlands. Offices in 12 locations worldwide. More than 100 streaming services supported. From an idea in Santa Barbara to the global standard in multiroom audio.

The Core Technology

Perfect Synchronisation

The foundation since 2004. Two speakers in stereo or ten rooms simultaneously: every speaker plays within microseconds of each other. You walk from kitchen to living room and hear no echo, no delay, no transition — only continuous music.

Trueplay Calibration

Acoustic calibration via the microphones in the speaker or your smartphone. Trueplay analyses how sound reflects in your specific room and automatically adjusts the equaliser. Every Sonos sounds optimised for the room it is placed in.

Software-Driven Evolution

Sonos speakers improve after purchase. New streaming services, features and enhancements via software updates. More than 100 services: Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube Music, Sonos Radio and many more.

Speakers: From Era 100 to Era 300

Era 100

The entry-level model that is astonishingly capable. Three Class-D amplifiers, two angled tweeters and one mid-woofer. WiFi and Bluetooth, Trueplay. Pairable as a stereo pair or as surround speakers with Arc Ultra, Beam or Ray. 48% recycled plastic.

Era 300 — Dolby Atmos

Sonos’ breakthrough in spatial audio. Six Class-D amplifiers, four tweeters (forward-facing, two side-facing, one upward-firing via directional horn) plus two woofers. Three-dimensional sound that envelops you. As a stereo pair, the Era 300 surpasses many a traditional HiFi setup. As surrounds with the Arc Ultra: full Dolby Atmos with height and side channels.

Five, Move 2 and Roam 2

The Five: most powerful standalone speaker with three tweeters, three woofers and line-in for a turntable. The Move 2: premium portable with 24-hour battery, WiFi and Bluetooth, IP56. The Roam 2: the same portability in an ultra-compact form factor. From fixed installation to garden and beach.

Home Cinema: Arc Ultra, Sub and Ace

Arc Ultra — Most Powerful Soundbar Ever

Completely redesigned architecture with 14 drivers: seven silk-dome tweeters (two upward-firing for height), six mid-woofers, and the revolutionary Sound Motion woofer — a four-motor dual-diaphragm from Mayht. 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos from a single soundbar, fifteen Class-D amplifiers. AI Speech Enhancement for crystal-clear dialogue. HDMI eARC, Trueplay, and wireless audio handoff to Sonos Ace via TrueCinema.

The Beam Gen 2 (compact, five drivers, Dolby Atmos) and Ray (entry-level) complete the soundbar range.

Sub 4 and Sonos Ace

The Sub 4: two force-cancelling woofers that eliminate distortion. Matte black or white. Two Sub 4s can be paired for even deeper bass. The Sub Mini offers the same technology in a more compact form.

The Sonos Ace: the first Sonos headphones. Over-ear with active noise cancellation and Dolby Atmos. The unique TrueCinema feature wirelessly transfers audio from your Arc Ultra — ideal for watching films in the evening without disturbing housemates.

Expandable step by step: start with Arc Ultra, add Sub 4, then Era 300 surrounds.

Architectural: Invisible Sound with Sonos Amp

Sonos Amp

The heart of every built-in installation: 125 watts per channel, HDMI ARC, line-in, Apple AirPlay 2, compact rack-mountable. One Amp drives up to three pairs of Architectural speakers. Trueplay calibration exclusively with Sonos by Sonance speakers.

Built-In and Outdoor

In-Ceiling (6″ and 8″): frameless grille, paintable. The 8″ variant down to 29 Hz and 113 dB. In-Wall for wall mounting. Outdoor speakers weather-resistant for terrace and garden. Developed with Sonance for professional sound quality that blends invisibly into the architecture.

Era 100 Pro — PoE+

Sonos’ first professional installation speaker (January 2025). Power over Ethernet: one cable delivers power and audio. Zone functionality for multiple speakers. Optional surface mount with indexed ball joint. 3-year warranty. Designed for professional installations in homes and commercial spaces.

Sonos and Control4: Official Integration

Official, certified Control4 driver based on Sonos’ own API. SDDP detection: speakers appear automatically in Composer Pro. Full control: playback, volume, favourites, playlists, grouping. Metadata (artist, album, album art) on all Control4 interfaces.

Direct selection of line-in and home theatre input on Amp, Arc and Beam. Up to 32 speakers in one system.

Sonos in the IAHome Concept

Movie night: The Delta Light spots dim, the Somfy curtains close, the Samsung QD-OLED activates Filmmaker Mode, and the Sonos Arc Ultra with Sub 4 and Era 300 surrounds deliver Dolby Atmos cinema sound.

Whole-house audio: Sonos Amp with Architectural in-ceiling speakers for background music in hallways, bathrooms and kitchen. Premium listening rooms with Focal, Bowers & Wilkins or McIntosh via NAD amplifiers. All controlled from one Control4 interface.
