Lumene
French Craftsmanship for Your Home Cinema

A projector is only as good as the screen it projects onto. That is precisely the philosophy of Lumene, the French manufacturer that has been the reference for projection screens in the home cinema market for years. As a family business with a deep passion for image quality, Lumene designs and produces all its screens and screen materials in its own production facilities in France. The result is a range that extends from affordable motorised screens to the most advanced fixed-frame screens with acoustically transparent fabric, ALR technology and 8K compatibility.

At Integration At Home, we combine Lumene projection screens with JVC and Barco projectors, Focal speakers and Control4 automation into home cinema installations that bring the cinema experience to your home.

Produced in France, Built to Last

Lumene distinguishes itself in a market dominated by Asian mass production by adhering to European craftsmanship. Every projection screen is hand-assembled and undergoes strict quality controls in the French production facilities. The projection fabrics are woven and treated in-house, giving Lumene full control over every link in the production process.

The company produces more than eight different screen materials to meet the varying demands of diverse projection environments. Seating arrangement, throw distance, ambient light, front or rear projection and 3D workflow — all these factors influence the image on the screen, and Lumene offers the optimal fabric for every situation. This application-oriented approach means that many customers upgrade multiple projector generations while their Lumene screen continues to perform unchanged.

Screen Materials: The Technology Behind the Image

UHD 4K Fabric

The workhorse of the range. Smooth, white projection surface with a gain of 1.0 — uniform reflection in all directions without hotspots or colour distortion. Directivity of 160° for a wide viewing range. PVC and fibreglass base, 0.64 mm thick. Black rear side blocks unwanted light. Anti-yellowing, anti-dust and anti-deformation treatments protect the fabric long-term.

UHD 4K/8K Platinum

Coated with a microstructured layer of diamond beads that purely reflect the 4K and 8K projection image. Sharper, more detailed reproduction that gets the maximum out of projectors such as the JVC DLA-NZ800 and NZ900 with native 4K D-ILA chips and 8K e-shiftX. Gain of 1.3 for slightly more brightness, directivity of 130°.

Acoustic Canvas

Designed for speakers behind the screen — the standard in professional cinemas. Precision-woven fabric with 92,000 micropores per 10 cm². Acoustic attenuation variation less than 1.5 dB between high and low frequencies — exceptional sound transparency. Front speakers sound as if no screen is present. Compatible with 4K projection.

ALR (Ambient Light Reflecting)

A breakthrough for projection in non-darkened rooms. The microstructured surface absorbs ambient light while directionally reflecting the projector’s light beam towards the viewer. Up to one hundred times brighter than conventional fabric under the same lighting conditions. High contrast and excellent visibility even in daylight.

Fresnel Technology

The latest innovation in the Lumene range. Specifically developed for ultra-short-throw (UST) projectors. Ingenious concentric layer design based on Fresnel principles that directs the light from a UST projector straight to the viewer, while blocking ambient light from the sides. Striking contrast, optimal brightness and faithful colours, even in illuminated environments.

Movie Palace: The Reference Screen

The Movie Palace series is the best-selling fixed-frame screen in France and the flagship of Lumene. Designed for dedicated home cinema rooms, Movie Palace combines a wide aluminium frame — clad in black velvet — with a mounting system that keeps the fabric under perfect tension. A completely flat projection surface without waves or creases. The velvet finish absorbs stray light and improves the perceived contrast.

Available from 170 cm (77 inches) to 350 cm (159 inches) diagonal, in 16:9 and 2.35:1 CinemaScope. The CinemaScope format is the preferred choice for film enthusiasts who combine their JVC projector with lens memory for automatic switching between aspect ratios.

Variants:

UHD 4K — dedicated dark room. UHD 4K/8K Platinum — maximum image sharpness. Acoustic — speakers behind the screen. Ultra Slim — 15 mm thin profile. Extra Bright — ALR for UST in daylight. Fresnel Ultra-Slim UST — more than 99% screen-to-frame ratio.

Motorised Screens – Embassy HD, Majestic HD and Eden

Embassy HD

Lumene’s answer for those seeking elegance without the budget of a complete home cinema. Robust, whisper-quiet motor system. Fabric with gain 1.0, directivity 160°, black rear side. Supplied with IR remote control and RS232 serial port for Control4 integration. Available in 16:9 and 4:3, from 170 cm to 300 cm diagonal. When rolled up: completely out of sight.

Majestic HD

The premium motorised screen. The Lumene Silent Motor operates whisper-quiet. The best of both worlds: the visual quality of a fixed-frame screen with the convenience of motorisation. Extensive home automation compatibility. Variable grip system and aluminium housing for a clean, professional installation on wall or ceiling.

Eden

Lumene’s broader range of motorised screens with specific variants. The Eden Extra Bright is specially developed for ultra-short-throw projectors with ALR technology for optimal contrast and image quality, even in daylight. Wide fabric and easy integration for an immersive cinema experience in any room.

Control4 Integration by Integration At Home

At Integration At Home, we programme every motorised Lumene screen into your Control4 system via the RS232 interface or relay control. Fully automated cinema control with bidirectional communication.

When the film ends, the process reverses: the screen rolls up, the projector switches off, the lighting rises to evening mode, the curtains open. No searching for remote controls, no manual steps.

The Movie Night Scene

You activate “Movie Night” on your Control4 touchscreen, Basalte panel or Lithoss switch. The Lumene screen automatically descends. The JVC projector starts up, selects the correct HDMI input, activates the appropriate lens memory profile (16:9 or 2.35:1 CinemaScope) and sets the picture mode. The Integratech LED strips dim to a warm accent. The Delta Light downlights switch off. The Focal speakers — invisible behind the acoustically transparent Movie Palace Acoustic fabric — start in Dolby Atmos configuration. The Gira curtains close. The climate control switches to whisper mode. All within five seconds, with a single press of a button.

Choosing the Right Screen: Advice from IAHome

Dedicated home cinema: Movie Palace UHD 4K/8K Platinum as a fixed-frame screen, with Acoustic Canvas when front speakers are placed behind the screen. Combination with JVC DLA-NZ700 or NZ900 rivals professional cinemas.

Living room with dual function: Embassy HD or Majestic HD motorised. The screen disappears completely from view during the day and automatically descends via Control4.

UST in daylight: Movie Palace Extra Bright or Fresnel Ultra-Slim UST with ALR technology for a high-contrast image in ambient light.

Aspect ratio: 2.35:1 CinemaScope when films are the primary application — combined with JVC lens memory for automatic switching. 16:9 for the most versatile use with series, sport and gaming.

Professional Installation

A projection screen only reaches its maximum potential with correct installation. At Integration At Home, we handle flat wall mounting with millimetre precision, ceiling mounting with concealed cabling, installation in false ceilings, and alignment relative to the projector position. For acoustically transparent screens, we calculate the optimal position of the front speakers behind the fabric, taking into account the acoustics and the specifications of your Focal speakers.

Frequently Asked Questions about Lumene Projection Screens

The standard UHD 4K fabric is a smooth white surface with a gain of 1.0 and a directivity of 160°, ideal for most home cinema installations. The Platinum 4K/8K fabric is coated with microstructured diamond beads that offer a sharper, more detailed reflection with a gain of 1.3 and a directivity of 130°. The Platinum fabric gets the maximum out of 4K and 8K projectors and is the recommended choice with a high-end projector such as the JVC DLA-NZ800 or NZ900.

Yes. The Lumene Acoustic Canvas is specifically developed for this purpose. With 92,000 micropores per 10 cm² and an acoustic attenuation variation of less than 1.5 dB, this fabric offers exceptional sound transparency. Your front speakers sound as if no screen is present. The Acoustic Canvas is available in the Movie Palace series and is compatible with 4K projection.

Absolutely. The Embassy HD and Majestic HD feature an RS232 serial port that enables direct communication with Control4. Integration At Home configures the bidirectional control so the screen automatically descends and rolls up as part of your programmed cinema scenes.

The ideal size depends on the viewing distance and the projector’s capabilities. As a rule of thumb, the screen height should be approximately one third to one quarter of the viewing distance. For a viewing distance of 3.5 metres, we recommend a screen 240 to 270 cm wide. Integration At Home calculates the optimal size based on your specific room, projector and viewing position.

For projection in ambient light, Lumene offers specific ALR screens: the Movie Palace Extra Bright and the Fresnel Ultra-Slim UST. These screens use Ambient Light Rejecting technology that absorbs ambient light and directionally reflects the projector light towards the viewer, resulting in a high-contrast image even in daylight.
