Procella Audio
Where Hollywood Sound Comes Home

There is a fundamental difference between loudspeakers that can also be used for home cinema and loudspeakers specifically designed for cinema. Procella Audio unmistakably belongs to the second category: born in a professional cinema auditorium, that same standard brought to the home theatre.

At Integration At Home we combine Procella Audio with Sony and JVC projectors, Stewart Filmscreen and Lumene screens, and Marantz or NAD processing for home theatres that match the commercial cinema experience.

From DTS Theatre to Global Brand

The story begins in 2005 at the European headquarters of DTS in Twyford. Anders Uggelberg — Director of Cinema Technology, with more than 300 cinemas and studios to his name — was tasked with building a reference theatre. No existing product met the requirements. The solution: design it himself.

The system made an immediate impression. In 2006, the BAFTA in London followed, then the CEDIA Expo where Procella won the Best Demonstration In Show award. In 2009, a dedicated factory in Sweden with handcrafted crossovers. In 2017, the audio for the THX-certified CEDIA Showroom — described by many as the finest cinema demonstration room in the world.

In 2024, a new chapter: the headquarters moved to Belgium under the leadership of CEO Ignace Rombaut and chairman Wim Buyens — both formerly of Barco/Cinionic. Co-founder Anders Uggelberg remains responsible for product development from Sweden. Belgian management, Swedish soul.

The Design Philosophy: Cinema Engineering

Identical Voice and Sealed Enclosures

The same loudspeakers for screen channels and surrounds: a seamless 360-degree sound experience without timbre discontinuities. All enclosures are sealed (sealed box) — superior transient response and minimal group delay. The sound reacts faster and more precisely than with bass reflex designs.

Compression Drivers and Waveguides

Professional compression drivers instead of conventional dome tweeters: higher efficiency, superior power handling. Louder and cleaner than conventional alternatives. Constant-directivity waveguide with a circular 80-degree radiation pattern — excellent for Dolby Atmos height channels in both vertical and horizontal mounting.

Crossovers and DSP

Handcrafted crossovers with flat phase response and ultra-low group delay. Each loudspeaker individually measured via an automated measurement system. Designed for external DSP processors such as the Trinnov Altitude — from room equalisation to bass management per channel.

The Loudspeaker Range

P815 and P880 – Reference

The P815 is the reference model and direct descendant of the original DTS theatre loudspeaker. Full-range three-way: P8 mid/high module with P15Si 15-inch low-frequency module. THX cinema reference levels up to 8 metres. THX Approved for THX Certified Screening Rooms and pm3 studios. Winner of the CE Pro BEST Award. External bi-amplification with DSP.

The P880 combines the V15 bass unit with the P28 mid/high module as a full-range screen channel loudspeaker for large rooms.

P8 – Versatile Reference Model

Three-way with 1.5-inch compression driver, 8-inch midrange driver (40mm voice coil, 15-litre sealed enclosure) and elliptical waveguide. THX certified. LCR channel, surround or height channel in medium to large rooms. At ISE 2026, an entirely new evolution was announced — redesigned from the ground up.

The P8iW: in-wall/in-ceiling version for immersive height channels. The P610 Mk2: full-range without subwoofer crossover, bass internally down to approximately 40 Hz. Ideal as LCR in medium-sized home theatres.

P6V Mk2 – Surround

Compact surround model: 1-inch compression driver, 6.5-inch woofer, 8 ohm, 70 Hz–20 kHz. Just 12.4 cm deep including wall bracket. Ideal for side and rear surrounds.

P5 – Atmos Specialist

The most compact Procella with a professional 5.25-inch woofer and 1-inch compression driver. 80-degree circular radiation pattern for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D height channels. Vertical or horizontal mounting. The P5iW as in-wall/in-ceiling variant.

IMMERSIO – LED Cinema

Launched at ISE 2026: the first fully integrated LED + immersive audio platform. Premium and Elite lines, screen sizes from 4 m² to 11 m². LED screen technology combined with Procella’s loudspeaker expertise. The future of premium residential cinema.

Subwoofers and Amplification

V18 Bass Engine

The absolute flagship: V-Loaded driver configuration. 137 dB continuous, 143 dB peak. The reference standard for subwoofers, period.

P18 and P15

P18: two 18-inch drivers, 4-inch voice coil, neodymium, just 30 cm deep. Bass down to 18 Hz. THX Approved. P18Si: more compact, 127 dB continuous. P15: two 15-inch Italian pro-audio drivers, lightning-fast transient response.

UNO Series and DA08-DSP

UNO Series (ISE 2026): U21 and U24 — single 21-inch or 24-inch driver in a sealed enclosure. From compact to large.

DA08-DSP amplifier: Class-D, four channels, 800W/8 ohm. Bridged: 3,200W/8 ohm. DSP presets for all Procella models.

Procella in the IAHome Ecosystem

The signal processor (Trinnov Altitude) forms the heart: channel management, bass management and room equalisation. Control4 integrates the complete system. Procella loudspeakers are driven via the processor that works seamlessly with Control4 scenes.

Belgian headquarters since 2024: short European lines and local accessibility for IAHome clients.

An IAHome Procella Configuration

Movie night: You press “Movie” via a Basalte Sentido or Niko switch. The Sony BRAVIA Projector 9 starts with the correct lens memory. The Stewart Filmscreen Luxus descends via 12V trigger. The Delta Light spots dim via Gira KNX. The Somfy curtains close. The Procella loudspeakers activate via the Trinnov processor. The Kaleidescape Strato delivers the film source.

Example 25 m² home theatre: Three P8 as LCR behind an acoustically transparent Stewart MicroPerf screen. Six P6V Mk2 as surrounds. Four to six P5 as Dolby Atmos height channels. Two P15 subwoofers powered by a DA08-DSP. A Trinnov Altitude16 as processor. A 9.2.6 Dolby Atmos system at Hollywood reference level.

Frequently Asked Questions about Procella Audio

Procella is specifically designed for cinema, not adapted from hi-fi. Professional compression drivers, sealed enclosures and constant-directivity waveguides that meet Dolby, DTS and THX standards. Focal and Bowers & Wilkins are excellent hi-fi brands for stereo and multiroom; for a dedicated home theatre, Procella offers higher dynamics and SPL capacity.

Yes. The P815, P8 and P18 are THX Approved for professional spaces, including THX Certified Screening Rooms and THX pm3 studios. This is the highest certification THX grants and confirms that these models meet the strictest cinema audio standards.

Most Procella loudspeakers are passive and require external amplification. Procella offers its own amplifiers (DA08-DSP) and is typically combined with Trinnov Amplitude amplifiers. Integration At Home advises the optimal amplifier-loudspeaker combination for your room.

Absolutely. Procella loudspeakers are driven via a processor such as the Trinnov Altitude that integrates seamlessly with Control4. Integration At Home programmes cinema scenes that activate audio, projection, screen, lighting and window coverings at the touch of a button.
