From Bulgarian Startup to European Unicorn
The story begins with Dimitar Dimitrov, a Bulgarian entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in telecom and robotics. In 2003, he founded Teracomm Ltd in Sofia. In 2010, the activities were consolidated into Allterco AD, which went public in December 2016 for just EUR 2.2 million — without a single cent of venture capital.
The breakthrough came in August 2018 with the Shelly 1: a tiny WiFi relay with an open API and local control. The maker community and YouTube reviewers discovered the product immediately — sales exploded without a single euro in advertising budget. In 2019, Allterco went fully all-in on IoT. The acquisition of the Dutch LOQED in 2024 expanded the portfolio into access control. Sensors, KNX and Matter
BLU Sensors
Bluetooth Low Energy for battery-powered devices: door/window sensors, motion detectors, temperature/humidity sensors and the BLU TRV (thermostatic radiator valve). Every Gen3/Gen4 device functions as a BLE gateway. The Flood Sensor Gen4 detects water leaks. The Dimmer Gen3 for dimmable lighting, with or without neutral wire.
KNXnet/IP

Shelly and Control4: The Perfect Complement
The Shelly Suite driver from Chowmain Software enables direct network connection to Shelly devices — without hub, without cloud. Bidirectional communication: Control4 controls Shelly and receives status feedback, energy data and sensor values in return. Supports Gen1, Gen2/Plus and Pro devices.
