Atelier Luxus
Where Craftsmanship and Home Automation Meet at Your Wall

There are details in an interior that you consciously notice. And there are details you feel, every time you touch them. Atelier Luxus switches fall into both categories. Crafted from solid brass, hand-patinated and fully KNX compatible, they are not ordinary light switches. They are objects that fuse technology and aesthetics into one.

At Integration At Home, we integrate Atelier Luxus as part of your smart home installation. No compromise between design and functionality, but a perfect fusion of both. Because in a home where every system works seamlessly together, the switch on the wall deserves the same attention.

Belgian Craftsmanship Since the 1990s

Atelier Luxus is a Belgian family business from Aywaille, founded by Naci Arel. The story began in the mid-1990s, when his father was commissioned to design a collection of designer switches with built-in automation for the Plaza Athénée hotel in Paris. That project laid the foundation for what is today an internationally respected brand in the high-end switch segment.

Today, Atelier Luxus employs around thirty staff and exports ninety per cent of its production abroad. The brand has been awarded a Red Dot Award and a German Design Award, among others — recognition that confirms the combination of design, material use and technical innovation.

The Material – Solid Brass as the Starting Point

What fundamentally sets Atelier Luxus apart from standard switchgear is the material. Every switch and socket is crafted from a solid plate or block of brass. No plastic housings with a decorative finish layer, but genuine metal with character that evolves over time.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, widely used in high-end interior design. It offers possibilities that are unachievable with aluminium or stainless steel: deep, nuanced patinas with a warmth and richness of tones that make every switch unique. Atelier Luxus offers more than eighteen standard patina finishes, from mirror polish to brushed, from sandblasted to oxidised. Each finish is applied by hand by specialised craftspeople.

The production process combines industrial precision with artisanal expertise. The plates are first machine-processed and engraved on an advanced CNC machining centre. They are then polished, brushed or sandblasted, after which they are immersed in a patina bath and manually lacquered. Assembly is also carried out entirely by hand. The result is a product that radiates perfection, without a visible logo, with an identity that speaks through material and design.

The Collections – A Matching Line for Every Interior

Atelier Luxus develops several collections that cater to diverse architectural styles and interior trends.

Carat – Timeless Elegance

The Carat collection is the square line from Atelier Luxus, compatible with standard flush-mounting boxes. This collection combines a sleek, minimalist silhouette with the warmth of solid brass. Available with various mechanisms, including push buttons, toggle switches, USB ports, HDMI, RJ connectors, thermostats and sensors.

Q1 and Q2 – Organic Curves

The Q collections are Atelier Luxus’s answer to the shift towards more organic forms in interior architecture. The Q1 collection features a round plate in solid brass as its base, with a wide choice of patinas and customisation options. The Q2 collection builds on this with a slightly thicker and more generous silhouette. Both lines can be combined into larger configurations when multiple units are placed side by side.

Edges and Signature – Sculptural

The Edges collection, including the Facet model, brings the luxury hotel feel to the residential market. Sculptural forms, rich tones and an unparalleled tactile experience. The Signature collection goes a step further with the Pablo switch, a striking organic design that functions as a true design object on the wall.

DoT – Minimalism at the Highest Level

The DoT switch, designed by architect Bruno Erpicum, epitomises precision and innovation. Small stainless steel push buttons that can be integrated into wall panels and even into bespoke furniture. Up to eight push buttons per unit, completely invisible when desired. For interiors where technology truly disappears into the architecture.

KNX Compatibility – Technology Behind the Beauty

Behind the artisanal exterior of Atelier Luxus lies state-of-the-art technology. All collections are fully KNX compatible.

This means every switch and push button can communicate directly with your KNX home automation system, without additional interfaces or converters. For Integration At Home, this is essential. We work with KNX daily as the backbone of smart home installations. When you press an Atelier Luxus push button, it can not only control the light in the room, but also activate a lighting scene, lower the blinds, start the music or adjust the heating. All within the same integrated system.

The native KNX push buttons developed by Atelier Luxus are not an afterthought. They are designed from the outset to function seamlessly within professional home automation installations. This makes them suitable for homes and hotels where reliability and responsiveness are not a luxury but a requirement.

How We Integrate Atelier Luxus into Your Smart Home

Selecting an Atelier Luxus switch is a choice for design. Integrating it into a functioning smart home is where Integration At Home makes the difference.

We guide you in choosing the right collection, finish and configuration per room. Which patina matches your interior style? How many push buttons do you need per switch? Which functions do you assign to each button?

These are questions we answer together with you, in consultation with your architect or interior designer. We then configure each push button within your KNX installation. In practice, this can mean that the left button of a double switch in the living room activates the reading light, while the right button triggers an evening scene that dims the lighting, closes the curtains and sets the audio to background level.

Every button is programmed to suit your daily use. We work with Atelier Luxus just as we do with our other top brands: Control4, Sonos, Gira, Barco and KNX. One integrator, one system, complete harmony.

Who Is Atelier Luxus Suitable For

In new-build projects where the architect works with natural stone, wood, leather or artisanal plasterwork, the brass switches are a logical and stylish addition.

In renovations of characterful homes, townhouses or historic properties, the diverse patinas offer the opportunity to perfectly match the switchgear to the existing atmosphere.

Atelier Luxus is also an established name for high-end hospitality projects. Hotels such as the Plaza Athénée in Paris and countless other prestigious addresses rely on this brand. We bring that same quality and level of bespoke craftsmanship to your home.

Frequently Asked Questions about Atelier Luxus

Yes. The Carat collection is compatible with standard round and square flush-mounting boxes. The other collections are also designed for common installation standards. For renovation or new-build projects, we advise which flush-mounting boxes best suit the chosen collection and configuration.

Atelier Luxus offers more than eighteen standard patinas, ranging from mirror polish and brushed to sandblasted, vibrated and oxidised. In addition, there are speciality finishes such as Bronze Bouchonné, which offer extra depth and texture. All patinas are applied by hand, making every switch subtly unique.

Absolutely. All Atelier Luxus collections are fully KNX compatible. The brand even develops native KNX push buttons that communicate directly with the home automation system, without the need for additional interfaces. As a KNX integrator, we take care of the complete configuration and programming.

The fundamental difference lies in the material and manufacturing. Where most designer switches consist of plastic or aluminium with a decorative coating, Atelier Luxus products are crafted entirely from solid brass. The finishing is done manually, assembly is carried out by hand and the patina evolves naturally over time. The result is a switch that not only looks beautiful, but also feels like a quality object.

Yes. Because the push buttons operate within the KNX protocol, the linked functions can be reprogrammed or expanded at any time. A push button that controls the light today can also operate the blinds or activate a scene tomorrow. The hardware stays the same; the software adapts.
